Syllabus Self-Assessment

The Syllabus Self-Assessment process provides the opportunity for faculty to self-report how their course meets the objectives of the Common Course or Distribution List to which they belong. This is used to assess the "faculty, and department adherence to CCAC approved guidelines, and specific common/DL requirements, for the purpose of maintaining the integrity of the Core Curriculum,"  the "faculty commitment...for teaching a Core class." The Office of the Core recognizes that a syllabus is not a comprehensive analysis of a course's contents. In addition, any assessment based on the syllabi will not be punitive, and all feedback to the dean or chairs will be anonymous.

Assessment Process

After Census each term, the Office of the Core will send all teachers of record the Syllabus Self-Assessment Survey for courses being taught in the Core that require assessment. A PDF copy of their syllabus will also be required for survey submission.
